Process automation · building and running applications · over 20 years

Developer and technical consultant

I automate business processes and build web and mobile applications. I also take over systems that are already running and keep developing them.

About me

I've been programming since 2004. I spent most of my career building systems that companies use day to day – from ERP platforms and enterprise applications through process automation to web and mobile applications. Most often for banking, leasing and healthcare.

I have worked for myself full time since 2021, with a trade licence since 2006. Most jobs do not start from scratch – the system is already running, it has its data and the people who use it every day, and changes have to be made while it stays up.

Examples of work

  1. Mortgage and loan processes at a bank

Process automation in Camunda BPM – from application through income verification and property appraisal to drawdown. Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, integrations with surrounding systems. Since 2023, ongoing.

  2. Clinic reception system

Bookings, calendar, patient records and billing. Go and PostgreSQL on the backend, React on the frontend, three language versions, audit log and a stricter regime for sensitive health data.

  3. Delivery route optimisation

Assigning orders to vehicles and computing routes under capacity, time-window and driver-hour constraints. Go, Python with OR-Tools and a self-hosted routing engine. Validated by backtesting against real journeys.

What I help with

Process automation

Automating business processes in Camunda BPM. Workers, integrations with surrounding systems, runtime monitoring. Java, Spring Boot, Kafka.

Web applications

Development from design through to deployment. React, Next.js, TypeScript, Node.js.

Mobile applications

iOS and Android in React Native, including releases to the App Store and Google Play.

Backend and operations

APIs, messaging, connecting systems, database design. I run the applications too – Linux, Docker, DigitalOcean.

What working together looks like

I work without subcontractors, though often directly in the client's team. Short-term and long-term projects, including short consultations of just a few hours.

  • Before I change a running system, I take the time to get to know it
  • I deliver in pieces, not one large change at the end
  • I write code and documentation so that someone else can take it over
  • I keep you posted on where I am and what comes next
  • I invoice hourly or for an agreed scope

Typical briefs

  • taking over and stabilising an existing project
  • a new application, where starting from scratch makes sense
  • support for an existing team on a specific problem or project phase
